Plating on Aluminum

Plating on Aluminum

Aluminum is lightweight with high durability. Aluminum machining is ideal for motorcycles, cars and airplanes. Aluminum castings, embossing, forgings and rollers may be subject to nickel and chromium ornamentation processes to improve appearance and enhance corrosion resistance and may be chemically nickel coated in technical applications. Aluminum is usually alloyed with various components such as silicon, magnesium and zinc to improve usability and construction. Each of these combinations requires slightly different activation sequences to optimize the adhesion of the electrolytic binding. As a general rule, to achieve an excellent nickel-chromium finish on an aluminum cast, a double-digit aluminum, copper or nickel chemical coating should be performed. However, it is possible to use nickel electrolyte immediately after the scraping, which will slowly begin to build up on the surface of aluminum with very good adhesion. Chemical nickel can also be coated directly on aluminum using a post-processing step as an intermediate step.
